Founded in 1932, the Museum houses a collections of approximately 3 million species ranging from shells that are only a few millimeters in length to a 16 meter whale. The majority of these species are conserved in special cabinet and made available only to researchers for their studies, or exhibited on special occasions. The Museum is a true and actual Archive of... Biodiversity, in addition to being an heritage of the whole community. The basic theme for the exhibition tour is the biodiversity in the Animal Kingdom. From the exhibit "Amori bestiali" to the spectacular Salone degli Scheletri visitors will become familiar with diverse animal forms while also understanding their origins and adaptation to different environment, an experience which is enriched through interactivity. The Museum also serves as a center for scientific culture awareness by creating initiatives such as temporary exhibitions and "Happy Hour", which are a chance for the public to meet with scientific experts in key animal biology themes. You can also learning more about zoology at our website, such as "Ecoagenda" which includes suggestions and information on environmental sustainability. Educational support , which is direct to all types and levels of schools, uses a methodology based on instruction-learning models that promote an active and personal understanding of the knowledge.
