Macro Testaccio e la Pelanda

MACRO TESTACCIO is located in the same complex that was home to a slaughterhouse during the19th century. The original buildings, built by GioacchinoErsoch(1888 -1891), bear witness to the transition from Classic to modern architecture and provide a significant historical example of late 19th century industrial, monumental and rational architecture. 2003 saw the creation of MACRO Future (today MACRO Testaccio), since when art exhibitions have been a regular feature in one of the buildings, whilst the second building has only been fully functioning since 2007.

PELANDA The project of the Pelanda, a centre of cultural production located in Piazza OrazioGiustiniani 4, was conceived ten years ago from an idea of Zoneattive. An area of 5000 square meters hosted in the Mattatoio (Slaughterhouse) and intended for exhibitions, educational activities and workshops. An example of industrial architecture, the result of an excellent restoration lasted more than three years
