Ex GIL

Sede espositiva convegnistica regionale

The Ex Gil buinding built by the famous architect Luigi Moretti in 1933 and located in the quarter Trastevere, of regional property, is considered one of the most important modern architectural works of the Capital as the explicit manifesto of Rationalism in Rome and therefore a significant monument  between the traditional architecture and the modern innovation of European origin. For many years in neglected conservation state, the building has recently been carefully restored allowing its  return to the original configuration.
Lazio Region has also decided to use the building for cultural activities so to preserve  its architectural features at best.
The Department of Culture, Art and Sport of Lazio Region manages and organizes the cultural events and has followed the various phases of the works as well as the  realization of cultural projects, exhibitions.
The ex GIL building, in addition to being an example of recovery of an important modern architecture, has also become the limelight  of the City and the Region to communicate the importance of the vast historical and artistic heritage of our context. The building acts also as reference, study and productive observation of the phenomena related to the architectural identity of the city and the terrritory using the historical documentary repertoire, collected over the years.
