Contemporary arts of the XX and XXI century
Preview: 26 January 2012
MAXXI will be devoting an exhibition to Giorgio Andreotta Calò, Patrizio di Massimo, Adrian Paci and Luca Trevisani, the four finalists of the 2nd edition of the Italian Contemporary Art Prize with works produced for the occasion by the museum. On the basis of the works created, the jury will elect a winner.
The jury composed of Elena Filipovic curator at the WIELS Contemporary Art Center (Brussels), Udo Kittelmann, director of the Staatliche Museen (Berlin), Anna Mattirolo, director of MAXXI Arte, Jessica Morgan curator at Tate Modern (London) and the artist Luigi Ontani, has selected the four finalists from a short list of artists born or resident in Italy and who are under 45 years of age.
The objective of the prize is to give, to the selected artists, a strong institutional support and to strengthen their international recognition. Moreover, the prize commissions new artworks and the winner piece becomes part of the permanent collection of the museum, thereby increasing its heritage
