Contemporary arts of the XX and XXI century
Opening: March 15th, 2012
curated by María Luisa Lax Cacho
Dart Chiostro del Bramante Arthemisia Group and 24 HOURS Culture - Group 24 HOURS present the exhibition Miro! Poetry and Light, curated by Maria Luisa Lax Cacho.
The exhibition collects more than 80 works of the Catalan genius, never showed before in our country, including 50 oils of surprising beauty and of great size, but also pottery, bronzes and watercolors by the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Palma de Mallorca, which holds the most important works by the artist.
The exhibition will cover the entire artistic production of Miró, born in 1893, between the years 1908-1981. A special focus will be devoted to the works created in thirty years in which Miró lived in Mallorca, from 1956 until his death in 1983, a particularly happy period for the artist, who finally had at his disposal a large studio and a workshop, in direct contact with nature, his muse, who gives life to new ideas and that so he was inspired to star a lot of works.
Because the studio had a great influence on his artistic production, it will be completely rebuild in the exhibition spaces of the Chiostro. The visitors will be able to see all the objects, brushes and original tools that the artist used, that the Foundation.has preserved.
In the exhibition the visitors could admire, among other masterpieces, oils Femme dans la rue (1973) and Untitled (1978), the bronzes as Femme (1967), including the sketches for the mural for Harkness Commons-Harvard University, all from the collection of Palma de Mallorca.
The catalog is published by Culture 24 HOURS - 24 HOURS Group
